SL 16 Open World Championship: regularity and precision
The SL 16 Open World Championship ended today at the Carnac YC. The regatta, which started on Tuesday, took place under good auspices thanks to a more than favourable weather. The wind and the sun were here all week long and thus the race committee has been able to launch fourteen races, making the 25 teams happy.
Three races have been run today from 12.00. Little wind for the first race, around eight knots, which favoured the Trebaol father and son (FRA 645) who win this race. Great-Britain completes the ranking with Ruppert White and Nikki Boniface (GBR 945) and Patrick and Benedict Harrison (GBR 984).
The second race was launched with a 12 knots wind. With a fluent fleet and relaxed competitors, the race went on as usual in friendliness and harmony. The Franco-Danish team Simon Michaelsen and Vincent Guého (DEN 959) win the game, followed by Audrey Ogereau and Christopher Artus (FRA 935) and the Planson brothers (FRA 990). Third and last race of the day, the wind is now at 15 knots. The leaders make the most of these conditions and run a beautiful race. Romain Bellet and Manon Audinet (FRA 857) end up first in front of Michaelsen and Guého, always comfortable in a steady wind. The Planson brothers are once again third.
This last day has been decisive and regularity has been the centerpiece to win this Championship. That's how Simon Michaelsen and Vincent Guého win the title of 2010 World Champions. It's also the case for Romain Bellet and Manon Audinet who stand on the second place of the podium. They out do Vincent Domand and Titouan Fafournoux (FRA 956), outstripping them for one point thanks to the race they won today. The first Carnac team is still Loïs Berrehar and Emmanuel de Colombel who end at the 15th place of this Championship.
